Prepare a file for a quote.
Send what you have. We review it before quoting, and we will ask if something is missing. These notes are general guidance, not a guarantee of fit.
Accepted files
STL, STEP, and 3MF models, plus PDF drawings. OBJ files and photographs are accepted on the quote form when a model is not ready. A written description is enough to start.
Units
Say whether the file is in millimeters or inches. If a drawing and a model disagree, tell us which one to follow.
Wall thickness
Walls that are very thin for the material can crack or warp. We review the model and will tell you if a wall looks too light for the job. There is no single thickness that fits every part.
Fit
Printed parts are not machined. Fit depends on the material, the design, and the print direction. We do not guarantee a numeric tolerance. Tell us which surfaces must fit another part.
Orientation
Note which faces are seen, which faces must fit another part, and which direction can show layer lines.
What to include
- Overall size and the dimensions that must fit
- A quantity range, not a final production count
- A deadline, if you have one
- Heat, sunlight, flex, load, or cleaning, if those matter
- The material, or Not sure
